Multiple-Output Encapsulated/Sealed DC-DC Power Supplies
Encapsulated/sealed dc-dc power supplies are available in both single and multiple output versions. The come in SIP, DIP, SMT and through-hole pin packages. Most of these modules deliver from less than 1W to over 300W, which is somewhat less than other non-brick packages. They are usually mounted directly on a p.c. board.
A typical multiple-output plastic-encapsulated supply of this type is the Recom RSS Series that is rated at 1W. The Series accepts nominal input of either 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, or 24V and produces outputs of ± 5V, ± ±9V, ±12V, ±15V, or ±24V. Isolation options are 1000V or 3,000V. A 6-pin SMD package measures 0.6 x 0.32 x 0.29 inches.
Polytron Devices produces its plastic-encapsulated SWA Series housed in a SIP package rated at 3W. Its nominal input voltages are either 5V, 12V, 24V, or 48V. Output voltages are either ±5V, ±12V, or ±15V. The SIP package measures 0.86 x 0.36 x 0.44 inches.
A higher-powered, hermetically-sealed dc-dc power supply is the Delta VPT DVFL2805D that has a 16V to 40V input (28V nominal) and ±5V output rated at 100W. These supplies can operate over the -55°C to +125°C temperature range.
