Single-Output Non-Brick Power Supplies

Non-brick dc-dc power supplies are available in both single and multiple output versions. The come in open frame or enclosed types. Most of these modules deliver from 20W to 500W, which is somewhat less than their larger "brick" cousins. They may be rack mounted or packaged within an electronic system.

A typical single-output non-brick power supply from Integrated Power Designs is the open frame DC2-110 Series. The Series has an input voltage range of 18V to 36V (24V nominal). With convection cooling its maximum power output is 80W; 300 LFM forced air cooling raises the output to 110W. Single-output versions provide 2.5V @ 22A up to 48V @ 2.3A in eight different ranges. Its 3.0 x 5.0 x 1.3-inch size fits 1U applications. An optional chassis and cover increase the size to 3.12 x 5.26 x 1.48 inches.
